Sisters in Bloom
about 18×27 acrylic on wood
I started this painting almost a year ago.
My friend Jake reached out to me and told me he had a ton of slabs that were processed from trees that had been cut down in Oregon, and asked if I wanted any to use for painting. I immediately said yes, and picked up this piece along with a few others.
For some reason, this painting never fully clicked for me. I felt like I had the details coming together how I wanted them to, but something still felt incomplete and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It sat in the corner in my studio for months until I finally picked it back up this past week.
And something clicked. All it needed was a few wildflowers to bring the moment together, and to create that sense of space in the piece that I had been looking for.
So, I’m happy to introduce you all to “Sisters in Bloom.”
